That's exciting that you are taking your first dance class!

My suggestion to you is make sure you check with the studio first. Some studios have dress codes that they like their students to follow and they can suggest shoes also.

If their is no dress code, I would suggest a hip hop sneak which can be purchased as a dance store. If you don't have to wear leotard and tight, I would suggest something that is not too baggy. If you wear a big baggy t-shirt and big baggy pants, it will be hard for the teacher to see whether or not you are doing something wrong. I would suggest something not too tight and comfortable. Maybe a tank or a decent fitting t-shirt with dance sweat pants, capris, or even shorts.

Have fun!

It all depends on where you go for hip hop. Some studios say wear jazz shoes or hip hop shoes but thats not the feel i go for and if you show up and it is more of a hip hop class people will kinda look at you funny. To be safe just wear some sweats or baggy jeans and comfortable sneakers and a tee shirt. I do not reccomend the leotard look because that isn't hip hop to be honest, that is jazz or pop (which is a new style of dance and no i don't mean pop as in popping) back to the subject... just go comfy and if they ask you to change clothes than it wont be too hard but if you wear jazz shoes to a hip hop class that wears sneakers you may get some bad looks. So, just stay true to who your are and have fun and its no biggie if they hate what your wearing because it won't affect your dancing but i just REALLY reccommend Tee shirt and sweats and comfy sneakers

I am a hip hop dancer and teacher. I pop, lock, and do a little breakdancing. I am also a battle dancer. Dont wear JAZZ clothes or shoes to a HIP HOP class...i still dont know why people think that's appropriate or even cool. Wear sneakers. Wear some loose pants and a tank. with experience you can find clothes that compliment your dance style. Dont wear a shirt that is too loose because you want be able to see your movement as well. for pants i recommend Adidas sweat pants or loose wind breaker type pants. about the shoes...a lot of hip hop dancers are wearing lightweight PUMA shoes. They're so light and dont squeak. I've worked with professionals that wear these. Almost every breakdancer i know has a pair and they are the ones doing the most with their feet.

Since I take hip hop you asked the right person. For hip hop the proper dress attire would be a choice of a black leotard with black pants and jazz/hip hop shoes or sneakers or you could wear a white shirt or black shirt and have black pants with the hip hop/jazz sneakers or shoes. You have this choice but sometimes when you dont want to wear this you can wear regular school clothes that are dark colors for hip hop also when you start your first class of hip hop you are going to think its super fun and you will have the best time!!!! I suggest the Hannah Kroner dance studio I take hip hop, tap, and ballet there, and they have all kinds of dancing subjects that are sooo fun!!!

I f you are doing hip hop u want that feeling of urban wear.
-U can wear like some loose sweats, and a t-shirt and some nice tennis shoes that can easily move on the floor. They always say black shoes but it can be any tennis shoes. Like sports Nikes, something that is not too heavy.

If u want Jazz:
You have to wear nice fittting tights and a tight white beater or muscle shirts.

Those are the only classes i know about on what to wear so good luck sweety.

You would just wear baggy loose clothes, since you are going to be moving around alot, like jogging pants, for shoes wear stuff like just some simple nike sneakers maybe, i mean just some good nice fittable sneakers, they arent really that exact on what you have 2 wear.

Something comfortable, easy to move in-shoes with tread so you don't slip and fall.I'd go with leggings, mini, sneakers and a layered tank. Cute, comfortable - simple until you see what others wear.I actually would contact the teacher of the class and ask to be sure, don't wanna look like a dork. :)

Probably something comfortable so you can move and stretch. Sweat pants and a t-shirt and gym shoes.
