I have a 86 300 ZXTurbo. I don't drive fast. Usually it's around town driving which I realize isn't the best gas mileage. I drive so little, but have to get gas every couple of weeks, and of course it's premium. Anyone, else have a hole in their gas tank with this type of vehicle? I get oil and air filterchanges regularly....

Every couple of weeks ain't too bad. That means your getting about 25 MPG or so. Since most SUV's and mini vans get no more than 20 MPG, your doing great. :-)

Hello: Thanks for letting me participate in your question.

I have a 1985 Chevrolet Rolling brick 3/4 ton full size van with the high moon roof with windows. She has the V8 engine and the only two holes in my gas tank is the one for the gas station nozzle and the one that feeds that hungry beast. Her name is VanZilla. Regardless of fuel costs, i love her lol.

OK get two gas cans, a 2 gallon or bigger and a 1 gallon gas can. Run your car out of gas. Stick the 1 gallon of gas in it and do a mileage reading and see how many miles you can get on that vehicle. I suspect 26mpg in city. Depending upon your driving habits and stop and go traffic.

Check your mileage. At your next fillup write down your odemeter reading and how many gallons you put in your tank (not dollars). Do the same thing at your next fillup, subtract your mileage to see miles driven then divide by gallons put in. If over 20mpg okay if 15mpg you may have a problem. good luck

In some populated areas, a locking gas cap ($10 or so) will improve your rate of fuel "consumption" greatly. Look for footprints on the ground in the area of your filler cap.
