Yes, his discussion on the Ego and the ID lead to a better understanding of the subconscious.

Most of Freud's work was based on repressed sexual feelings. He went a little over board with that, but in some cases his observations are still valid.

His most famous diagnoses is the Oedipus Complex, where a person loves their mother in a sexual fashion and that does happen in modern life.

In another theory on self-identification with the leader he helped to explain how a leader can create mass obedience, which expains how David Korish and Hitler rose to power.
