More people seem to care who wears the crown than they care who misgoverns the country for the next four years.

We do start out with more than 2 choices and the party caucuses widdle it down to one potential winning canidate for them. It is only after this that we end up with 2 choices. Having multiple choices at the time of a presidential election would really be a disaster...it would take forever to count the votes for all the states.

You actually have quite a few to choose from, but only 2 get all the funding and publicity. Remember Ross Perot? He came the closest to winning president as a 3rd party since Abraham Lincoln.
