Someone who has sex not because they want to, but for pyschological reasons: to make themselves feel attractive, to stave off loneliness, to increase their popularity. For all the empty, shallow reasons, in other words.
People who have sex a lot, who love sex a lot, and who like to have it casually with many partners may be sluts, but not necessarily, in my opinion.
I reserve the word 'slut' for those who compulsively have sex in order to feel better about themselves, not because it truly makes them happy.

If a FEMALE who sleeps around (has sex with numerous guys) is a SLUT, what is a MALE who has sex with numerous women? A stud! But why is the FEMALE equivalent of a STUD a bad name? I've wondered about that since I was a teen driving my new 32 Ford.

To me a slut is someone who has sex for the hell of it, and hardly ever says no to a one night stand.

Anyone, male or female that has sexual relations with multiple partners without there being a relationship. Drunk or high is no excuse.

It is a pejorative term for a dirty woman,or a woman or man who has had a large, indiscriminate number of sexual partners. When used against females it is strictly a sexist term.
