Also I have IDE hard drive that i can not get them to erase, i have a hard drive washer, but it wont reconize them either.

Most CD drives should have a sticker label on the top that tells the correct jumper settings for Master, Slave, or Cable Select. If you have a really old CD drive though then it may not have an option for cable select. In that case you need to set the top to Master and the bottom to Slave.

As for the IDE drive, I can't tell you what the problem is based on that, but you might want to first check in your BIOS to see if the drive is being detected by your PC at boot up and that it isn't just a software related problem. If it doesn't show up in your BIOS then turn off your PC and check your hard drive cable connections and make sure the jumper settings are correct. If everything is hooked up fine and still nothing comes up, it's possible it is dead.

As far as the CD drives go, I can't really help ya with that one. but with the hard drives, make sure the jumper setting on the back is correct. (ie, Master, Slave, etc)
