Communicating is what connects us with others. If we don't communicate then we are on our own and a baby cannot survive long on it's own.
Communication starts in the womb. The fetus learns to recognize it's mothers voice even before it is born. From birth, the baby and mother (and father or significant others) begin to bond through touch, sight and sound. it has been suggested that the give and take of sounds, touch and turn taking when breast feeding are the basis of turn taking in conversation. At birth, touch is very significant and a child that lacks touch will often develop slower and with more emotional and psychological issues later in life. Touch and sight are the modes of communicating that are important in the first year or two of a child's life. This form of communication is crucial to healthy emotional development.
One of the things that sets us apart from other animals is language. All animals (and plants) communicate in one way or another but human language raises the sophistication by several degrees. Language is crucial in developing cognitive abilities; being able to conceptualize and represent the world to ourselves and others. Language can start in the first year (if I remember correctly) but the level of linguistic sophistication in a child increases in the 2 - 3 year period. Most people cannot access memories of their own childhood before around 3 years so I would guess that language has a role to play in memory (particularly episodic memory.)
Good linguistic and communication skills enables a child to connect with others and with ideas in more complex, elegant and detailed ways allowing intellectual and emotional exploration, elaboration and fulfillment.
Communication/language is a large part of what makes us human. There is an argument that it is the most important thing that defines our species.

These to categories are key in the development in youths. Communication is vital for the child to feel secure. At young ages, children are very affectionate, and they need to receive those feelings as well. if he/she feels as though they are being abandoned, or feel as though they are not getting enough attention, they will probably do bad and destructive things to receive the attention in adults. communication is also good because it is healthy to know hat your child is thinking, and what is going on in his/her life. Language is good in two ways. If you mean the use of a "larger" vocabulary such as including inappropriate words, this is not good for when a child hears this he/she will absorb everything, and incorporate this in their vocab. however it is always good to use a large vocab so the child will not experience problems in the literary department. Just remember, children are like miniature sponges at a young age, and take in everything they see or here...

Language supplies sounds that are mandatory for abstractions. seen photos that are inspired via particular sounds. little ones incredibly respond to classical track, "Mozart" exceedingly, via fact his compositions are playful. examining to the youngster is very considerable, and is powerful with the creation of examining and comprehension skills. My journey with little ones, from start to little ones, (4-5) is they actually relish threat that provides them advantageous reinforcement, incidents of successes, stimulates their imaginations, are greater in a position to verify a 2nd language, and bigger interest.
