No, a great NBA player is someone that can score and play Defense. Lebron is said to be the next MJ but Jordan won Defensive Player of the year in 89' and James just roams the court looking try and get a lucky steal. There is no dominant player in the NBA but if there was a best all around it would be D Wade, his numbers are spectacular but they are very good and his defense is alot better. Melo is not the best but he is good. Kobe has a great shot and is good hustler down court. It's a toss between Dwade and Kobe

I do not think so... Melo is one of the better players but as for the best player no. I believe that there is not a best player in the NBA today. There are alot of really great players but nobody stands out. There are best players at positions... Like Duncan at power forward... (Some will argue that it's Dirk), Nash at point, and Wade at Shooting Guard... There is alot of arguement these days as who is the best and is not like in the 90's when Jordan was the BEST player with no arguments... So as Melo being the best I say no but I bet you that somebody out there (like your friend) will beg to differ with me.

It depends on what your friends are looking at when they say this. If they are talking about scoring only, the stats point out taht Melo is the best player this yr in the league with 30.9 points. But when you look at all the stats, it really depends. If you're looking at a guy who gets you boards and points, The Big Ticket KG is probably the best. When you look at points and assists, THe MVP Steve Nash is. Personally, I think the player that is teh best talent-wise is Kobe Bryant. He has the unstoppable turnaround fadeaway, unbelievable hops, and plays with a ton of heart.

P.S. DEEEEETRRROIIIIITT BASKETBALLLLL

He is a good player but not the best...your friend is huffing fertilizer! With Nash, Nowitski, Bryant, Wade and King James he is down the list. If it were a sucker punch contest he would win! Right now i would not even say he is the best player on his team...have you heard of THE ANSWER?

Best player is dwayne wade and 2nd would be kobe. Right now, wade is dominating both offensively and defensively and comes up with huge plays. Kobe has solid defense too, but he's not as good as wade.

Carmelo is a great scorer, but he's nothing more than that. Same goes for LBJ.

Ummm...he is wrong. Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki are the 2 best players. Kobe is in there as well.

I'd say Kobe is. He shows up every night and just plain hoops.

As much as I love Detroit Pistons, they're more of a team play squad, versus having a superstar.

Definitely between Kobe, Wade, or Lebron.
