At this point im starting to believe anything is better than netflix. I have only been on for a month and already i have had to report a missing dvd and a broken/damaged one just today.
Why dont you do Blockbuster online? my bf does that one and now you can get game rentals on there too. i think im going to switch from netflix to blockbuster.

I've been using Netflix since I was 16 (I'm 22 now) and in that time I've only had a few problems. Once, the disc was completely broken, once it was the wrong movie and once the movie was missing a large chunk (but that wasn't Netflix's problem.) I think, in six years, they've done pretty well. You should really buy a cleaning solution and clean off the disc before you put it in the player. I always do that, just because a lot of people have used that disc and it is obvious that it will get some scratches and such on it after awhile. Just buy a cleaning solution and a special cloth and use that on each DVD when you get it. That always solves my problems.

I love netflix and have recommended it to everyone. I have never had a problem with the DVD's being scratched or unplayable.
I have used netflix for over a year now, the only problems I have ever had is them not recieving a movie and then not getting one back from them for a while. Also sometimes they have sent a movie that I do not receive. But they have been pretty good about getting it out to us as soon as they are made aware of the problem.

I go through NetFlix and all the dvds are fine when I get them and play well.... It could be your dvd player eventhough it plays your other movies fine.
Try spraying some glass cleaner on a cloth and wiping the dvd before playing it!
GOOD LUCK HOPE THIS HELPS!!
I'll let ya know if I have any problems I'll be getting my next movie Thursday! LOL

I've had these kinds of problems, too, with DVDs from Netflix and from video stores. People seem to be pretty careless and inconsiderate in the way they treat rental DVDs.
But one simple thing that sometimes makes these discs watchable is to wash them off with warm, soapy water (use a sponge), and then drying them off thoroughly with a paper towel. This won't help if the disc is badly scratched, but getting rid of greasy fingerprints and other grime can be just what's needed.

I've only had a couple DVDs arrive damaged. Every time, I've reported it on the site and Netflix has replaced them immediately.
I've gotten damaged movies from Blockbuster too. Netflix just makes the exchange easier.

I've had Netflix for about a month, about 3 dvds a week or so, and I've only had one that wouldn't play and that was because it arrived in about 3 pieces.

Yes these things happen a lot with any rental video. If you use a soft cloth and rub small circles on the bottom of the DVD, most of the time it will play without problems.

I have had this problem many times before...after talking with them, they said that it was do to poor shipping and handling. But after checking some things, I have found out that they only have so many copies of thier movies, and they send them out to any one who wants to see it; and they never check them for needed repair, etc. I have droped them and started with blockbuster, and so far have not had any trouble.
Hope this helps.
