if you have your washer in the basement, this'll probably happen everytime. if washing them again didn't seem to help, maybe the problem is the water itself? or perhaps you only think it's the clothes that smell like that? try going away from the washer, outside would be best and see if the clothes still have that smell. maybe it's something else near the washer or the washer itself that smells? man, that sucks! sorry to hear it.

If your washer is a front-loader the water in it may be musty. If so, run the washer empty on hot cycle, then try washing your clothes again.

I had that happen once and what I did was wash them again, even twice in COLD water, using a different detergent than usual. Then, I put them in the dryer with 2 dryer sheets. The smell was gone!!!

Try a little bit of vinegar in the wash cycle with laundry soap. That should help. Then, in dryer, use fabric softner sheets. Hope this helps. Take care.

When this happens to me (which it does quite often I'll admit!!) I wash the clothes again. I usually add a little more fabric softener than I normally would to try and get rid of the smell.

Rewash the clothes and put about 1/8 cup of bleach in the water.

I easily have also forgotten laundry in the washer in one day and many times they don't scent the finest perfect. i counsel washing them again and making use of fabrics softner or dryer sheets to provide them that more desirable sparkling scent. sturdy success!

Use a can of Coca-Cola in your wash cycle (and no detergent). After wash cycle, re wash as usual and dry.
