Vaguely, I think it was Esso, the driver would fill his car with it, and say "I`ve got a tiger in my tank", whereupon a rascally tiger would appear and make a " grrrh ...grrrrh growling sound and the car would shoot off like a `dose of salts`, "vroom vroom". I think the petrol company stopped the advert eventually, because it was blamed for encouraging drivers to drive excessively fast. The same company used to sell paraffin at their garages it was blue in colour, whereas their rival Shell ( who had lost quite some petrol business because of the tiger advert) used to sell paraffin which was pink in colour. Shell bought out a new advert for their paraffin; "Pink don`t stink, but blue do !` This time it was the English teachers who complained about the advert, because technically it was bad grammar! How very silly people are!!
