Have some clothing items that I will never wear again... prom dresses, almost new jeans, shirts, shoes, etc. Where do you think I would get the most money for that kind of stuff? Any other ideas for selling?
We need to make some cash for our wedding this July since we're paying for it ourselves... and I need to get rid of a bunch of stuff that I won't ever use again and that is taking up space in my house.

i would try both, you get to price your clothes right? what you don't sell try ebay. i am when i find more time.

Consignment shops generally take at least 1/3 of the selling price, so with all things being equal, you would have to do the math. If the stuff you have has a lot of appeal, you could have good luck on eBay. I would definitely show the clothes on a person and lots of closeups. I buy clothes on eBay and find some very attractive deals. When using eBay, you have to consider the fees and the shipping cost.

If you have the time and patience to devote to selling on eBay, you would probably make more money there. Consignment shops often only take designer clothing and will take about 30% or more of what they sell it for- not to mention other fees they may charge. However, if you're just looking to get them out of the house and do not have the time, then consignment is better than nothing.

Personally, I have better luck at the consignment shops. I am selliing name brand, barely used items, like jeans and dress pants. However, for something like a prom dress, I think Ebay would be better. Also, if you're just starting on Ebay you might not get as much as someone with a higher feedback. You might try one of the Ebay drop off locations that are popping up everywhere, they list your items for you and you just pick up the check when it sells, it's usually faster than a consignment store if you're needing quick money.

If you want to sell all of your old clothes and want to make some money........ I would have a yardsale. I am from a small town in california and that is what we do here. Whenever my family has one we always make a ton of money. Last time we had one, we had enough money to get a big pool and enough money left over to have a shopping spree!
