I have been told that the imbalance is so bad that I will not be able to loose weight, and will continue to have major increase on unwanted hair if I do not get the hormones balanced, but the risk of breast cancer in my opinion and my husbands, is to high for me to go on medications for hormone therapy, what are your opinions on what i should do?

You should get hormone replacement if you do not have enough estrogen . But testo does not lead to breast cancer . Estrogen causes breast cancer and doctors give testosterone to balance too much estrogen in patients with breast cancer .
I can not say more without seeing your hormone test results if you can scan them send at tahazybk@yahoo.com I will check it for you .
You can show your results to another doctor to get another opinion sometimes doctors do not know their job and put at risk their customers.

There are many medications that can block the effects of testosterone without raising estrogen levels, spironolactone, cyproterone acetate, flutamide, finasteride, gonadotrophin releasing hormone analogues--these drugs can all treat your symptoms but not the cause of your problem. You should be able to loose weight no matter what your hormone levels. In fact loosing weight will likely help to balance your hormones. Have your doctor test for insulin sensitivity, this could be a contributing factor, and getting this under control could help you balance your hormones as well.

Have they told you WHY your testosterone levels are high? Are other hormone levels off? If they are talking about bringing other hormones to normal levels it will not increase risk of breast cancer. You should be concerned as to why you are producting too much testosterone. You should be seeing an endocrinologist and check all hormones to see if there is something going on with your pituitary.
