Are we all murderous prudes?

A valid question.
As a culture, we seem to take such joy in things like football, boxing, war, etc. It always seems to be a matter of someone gaining a "victory" over someone else.
Sex - on the other hand - is barely understood.
We have the highest teen pregnancy rate on the planet - 9X higher than the Netherlands, where they take sex education seriously.
Thankfully, Americans are coming to terms with things like nude recreation, which isn't sexual or erotic in any way. Europe came to terms with nudism years ago.
As a nation, we still haven't totally come to terms with erotica ("porn" if don't know it by it's proper name). Men and women of all ages, single and in a relationship, enjoy additional forms of arousal. There's nothing weird or perverted about it. Some folks just have serious self-image issues; meaning that all the sexual pleasure in the relationship has to come from them.
Yes, this is an interesting society, where violence is indeed "celebrated," and sex not completely understood or appreciated.

why we have this love of violence in America is anybodies geuss. I geuss we are still guided by a cowboy mentality. I'm as guilty as anyone.
Having lived in Northern Europe for a few years really opened my eyes about america's atitude toward sex. In European nations, sex is encouraged and considered healthy. here, it's considered private and taboo to discuss. I don't know the answer.

Because the founding fathers found this country and overtook this land by violence. It's in it's history.

Sadly, yes. Apparently, it is better to slap a woman than eat her out, at least in a movie.
We are so afraid of sex, that we would be relieved to see our children imitating violence, but horrified to see them imitating sex acts.
