You need a commercial kitchen for that kind of work. And yes, it's next to impossible to have a home kitchen re-fit to pass inspection.

I have a friend who does catering. When she was just starting out, she rented time in a working commercial kitchen, since her use was occasional, and the kitchen in question was not a full-service, breakfast/lunch/dinner sort of operation, so they could accomodate her.

Later she rented a commercial kitchen with two other caterers. They had to coordinate time and space, but the kitchen was a big enough space that often two of them could be working in there (with a few staff as well).

Get a tavelling kitchen... you can get a bottom of the line one for like 5 grand. It's basically a trailer that you tow. It's kind of like the ones at the fair only more set up for catering. Just search for one on like ebaymotors or something. Hope this helps. Peace.

You can work from your home. My aunt has a catering business and that's how she started hers. You just need to get a food handler's permit and license and have your kitchen inspected regularly by the health department.
