I have a black moor fish that has always been very active.. recently he started laying at the bottom of the tank.. and yesterday he was swimming sideways (yikes!) Today he was floating at the top, but still has gill movement. I moved him to the bowl (best solution the other fish were picking on him) now what?

Okay the treatment for swim bladder disease is fasting the fish for 3 days and then feeding, boiled fresh or thawed frozen shelled peas. If your two dollar goldfish isn't worth a few peas, then it's going to probably die from swim bladder disease because this is the treatment. Please don't put it in a bowl because this is most likely what caused the problem in the first place. Overcrowding causing bad water quality. Bowls are a death trap to goldfish. Goldfish need 10 gallons of water minimum per fish and over 4 inches, they need 20 gallons of water minimum per fish and it can be more than that the bigger they are. Please read up on how to care for goldfish so that they don't all die. Good luck to you and your little fishies.

before everything whilst cleansing your tank out you may in no way eliminate all the water thoroughly and then flow your fish to a diverse tank.. i paintings for pets @ homestead interior the united kingdom.. and we constantly advise to take 20% of the water away.. and in trouble-free terms 20% in no way from now on than which you would be able to kill your fish via stress doing the technique you have taken.. confident the water de-chlorinates itself whether it truthfully relies upon on the dimensions of the tank.. small tanks can take 24hours midsection length tanks 3 days huge tanks a week to 2 weeks.. ideally you may desire to get some de-chlorinator and get your fish in its ideal tank and suitible water in the previous it dies.. have you ever dealt with your fish for its swim bladder? Aquarium salt is an selection .. or the insides of frozen peas .. sturdy success with all of it = )

Feed him a thawed frozen pea with the outer layer removed. This will remove the gas build up. Feed him only this, once a day till he is better.

It's really the only solution that works for swim bladder.

Good luck

Sounds more like nitrite poisoning to me. Have you done a water change since you noticed this?
