Is there anyway to have a different "setup" on my verizon phone?

I don't like their setup like for their texting, their phonebook etc, and am wondering how I can get a different setup on a new phone?

There are websites and blogs dedicated to the pursuit of hacking Verizon Wireless' generic menu. You have to be pretty tech-savvy to do it, and you'd better hope you don't make a mistake that VZW will refuse to fix.
