Vinegar because the toxin is alkali, bicarbonate of soda for bee stings because it is acid.

Sodium bicarbonate is the best thing. You can simply mix a bit of baking soda, with water, to make a thick paste and rub it right on. Because the venom used by wasps is acidic (formic acid) the best thing to use to neutralize the sting is a very Strong base, like baking soda. Vinegar is not the best solution, first of all, they are both acids, so degradation of the formic acid will be much slower, and vinegar itself can irritate an open wound, like a puncture wound from a stinger.

Hope this helps!

Vinegar certainly works as I had a wasp stuck down my top once and my the time I got it out it had stung me 12 times. My mum covered me in vinegar and though I really stank like a chippy the relief was almost instant.

Wasp stings are alkaline so you have to neutralise it with an acidic solution; vinegar is ideal.

'Stingose spray'...failing that,vinegar.
Bicarbonate of soda for bees.
Beetle is wrong..the sting of a wasp is alkaline...so sodium bicarbonate would make it worse..this would work for bees as their sting is indeed acid..as with ants.
