I don't know, probably the same reason that some people think that evolution is 'just a theory', or that bats get caught in people's hair.

Some people are ignorant, some are just stupid.

At least you can cure ignorance.

I don't know why exactly but since humans have a pair of teeth called canines maybe some people just assume that all carnivores have the same thing.
