I was telling that guy at work about how my grandmother died and that my grandfather died a few month later, etc and about how I lost my aunt...

He told me that my life sounds like a soap opera...Is that offensive? Did he just trying to show compassion or he meant that he didn't believe me?

No, I don't find that offensive in the least. I think he just meant that you have a lot of drama going on in your life at the moment that it sounds like something you would see on a soap opera. I've been told that countless times and it makes me laugh. Don't sweat it.

No, because my life is a soap opera in many ways. I married a man that was abusive and had to get out to save my own life. I don't know how much closer to soap opera that can be.

Wow, that guy was VERY insensitive, but I guess he made his point by saying it. I don't think I have ever heard a guy say something like that, so I'm guessing someone said that to HIM. He probably has so much self inflicted drama in his life, and that he's so wrapped up in himself he couldn't care less about anyone else's losses.

Try not to bring personal feelings into work (call off sick if you have to deal with the greif)

No, not offensive. Just meant that you had been living through an awful lot of dramatic episodes lately.
Take him at his word. So many people offend intentionally, no point in taking offense at a statementy like that that probably only shows he is listening to you.

It doesnt neccesarily have to be offensive nor does it have tom ean that he doesnt beleive you...Ive been told me same thing more than onc already so I just kind of start saying it myself LOL. Some people just havent been trough much in life so they get surprised when they meet someone that does cuz they think that only happens on TV.

Sounds kinda biting to me. Doesn't seem to have any compassion
.....unless you talk about this 5 days a week then people start to turn you off or hint that they don't want to hear anymore. Ask yourself, "Am I always talking about what a dramatic life I live, or want to live?"

no.. you shouldnt be offended. first of all, who cares what someone else thinks about YOUR life. its your life, and its supposed to be whatever that you want it to be. dont let people judge you or label your life for you...and for the record, your life doesnt sound lke a soap opera

He may not have meant to offend you and probably didn't disbelieve you. Some people seem to never have losses, and when they hear of losses of others, somehow they blame those who have lost. Don't worry, life will catch up with him.

i do not imagine he replaced into attempting to be offensive. also, i imagine more desirable lives sound cleansing soap opera-y then easily are. maximum lives are only known. even as informed in recap, they are not that thrilling.
