We all have seen it happen, a police crusier runs a stop sigh or red light, and yet not on a call..bla bla... So why is it ok for them to do traffic violations with out getting a ticket?

It's not ok, it's called corruption. Just because they do it and they get away with it does not mean it's ok, it just means that enough other cops are corrupt enough to look the other way (mostly because they expect the same "professional courtesy" in return someday).

About the guy who says they get free coffee and donuts: Yes, they do, but it's simply untrue to call it a perk of the job. They feel, quite correctly, that nobody will stop them when they steal small things. A small shop owner wants to be on their good side, or else the cops may not be in such a hurry when they call 911... cops know this and they knowingly shake them down for things like magazines and sandwiches, etc. It's not a perk, it's further corruption. Just because the shop owner doesn't report it does not make it ok... who could they report it to anyway? Internal Affairs won't sweat the small stuff and cops know it... IA is too busy with the big fish (of which there are plenty).

The solution? State police departments should have a special unit that polices municipal police. Every municipal department should have an IA for the extremely corrupt, but there should be an entity outside of that department going after the lower levels of corruption.

It is "ok" because no one with the authority to cite them saw them do it. Even if there was another police car nearby, and that cop saw him do it, and a citizen actually made a solid complaint, the second cop would say they didnt see him do it because he was sneezing at the time or something. Police officers have strong loyalties to one another

Its not OK, I report every incident I see. I don't report because I am a rat, its because no one should above the law, even the law. How many times have we been pulled over for a small infraction, with no brakes. They are the example of the law not the exception.

It is not right they should have to follow the same laws as you and I do, unfortunitally for you and I we are not on the police force, so we don't get the job perks like they do, they also get free coffee and donuts at convienience stores, I have seen it many times.
