Because it is! The English cooking traditions are not just about roasting Beef Wellington and making Pease Pudding. English cooking includes the traditions of the British Empire. So it includes Curries, Middle Eastern Lamb with Rice, ?Chinese dishes from Hong Kong, and the products of Africa and North America, as well as South and Central American specialities. Add to that a very long tradition of sea food because of them being an island nation. All of the cooking styles of the world met and melded in English cooking.

By the way, there is "English Food" it's called Roast Dinner or Fish 'n' Chips, Full English or Beans on Toast, they are all fine and dandy, but I would prefer something more exotic, maybe "me chicken, rice 'n peas" =D but I like Portuguese and Mexican cuisines, Chinese and Indian, Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai. All better!

But we are just so great, aren't we? Every nation wants to be in our good books! Forget America, we are the leaders (after all, who's made this buff language?)! Hehe

We HAVE got some excellent food, we HAVE got some fantastic small producers of real quality, and we HAVE got some brilliant chefs.

France, for example, is slipping down the list, because they tend to rest on their laurels.

Now all we need to do is get the prices down.
