In the Sims 2 game, what is the cheat that lets you give a family money before moving into the lot? I had it written down but my paper got lost. I cant find it anywhere, and I have done this cheat before. It had like something infront of it and then it said the familys name and how much you wanted to give them. If you know what it is let me know.

First you have to have the nightlife expansion for the cheat to work.
familyFunds [familyname] [amount] - Sets the chosen family's funds to the given level (does not add the amount given, but sets it). If the family name has a space in it, you can put it in quotes - i.e. to set the di Marco family's funds to 30000 you'd do: familyFunds "di Marco" 300000

The Sims has always been a PC game, and I don't think that it would be the same on a console. If you do get it on PC, then it does take up a lot of space on your hard drive, but you have more options avaliable on the PC version and you can add expansion packs. Personally, I think that the PC version is definately worth buying, it's just a classic game that everyone should have.

OMG. I know this is NOT the answer to your question, but i just posted a question that you may be able to help me out with!
I just moved and got a new computer, and i just bought the University Life expansion pack. Today I went to install it and realized I have lost my original Sims 2 CD. :( So now I can not install it. Do you think you could PLEASSEEEEE email me the folder that has the installation in it? Me and my younger sister are snowed in and really would like to play our new game. I really dont want to go spend the money to buy a new one..

its NOT POSSIBLE for a sim family to have more money BEFORE they move into the house for the first time...
you have to make them move into a cheaper house and then type in the money cheat a few times until you have the money you need and then move them out of the house and into another,more bigger house..
ALSO THE MONEY CHEAT IS:
MOTHERLODE
to open up the cheat box hold down ctrl+shift+c

OOH!!i remember that cheat!
i always do that,
but what i do is first i place blank small lot on the village and move in a certain family there. then press the certain keys to toggle the cheat mode and type in MOTHERLODE type it repeatedly until you have the amount of money you want.

pick your platform, pc in your case, go to "s" then find sims2 in the list
