in some cases meaningful words mean objects of love and affection

It depends on the person. Some people are more into material objects. But here's the thing. Sometimes when you give so many material things, the person takes it for granted; they don't appreciate it anymore. Some people just want to hear that you care for them or love them. I say a combination of both is the right fix.
My personal experience, i like receiving stuff. However, when you don't hear the meaningful words once in a while, you can start to wonder if the person really does care or not.

words mean more to me, as a person. but i've been let down so many times by empty words. At least with material things, you have proof they cared for the moment they bought it.... I've been made too many empty promises, some of them like 2 years old, and none of them have been fullfilled as of yet....

I'm a romantic, and i fantasize about a better reality, and my head is so far up my butt that i don't know what to believe anymore
