If you do decide you have to do something, then there isn't a simple answer.

Facial and body hair on women comes about in the same way as on men because of

1) your body being sensitized, before you were even born, to testosterone -- doesn't happen to all girls, but does to many

2) your body producing high levels of testosterone

The growth rate and coarseness of the hair depends on just how much testosterone is circulating in your bloodstream.

Steer clear of bleaching -- when someone sees you against the light you'll look as if you have glowing hair

As far as removing it is concerned it's worth remembering that

* Waxing, plucking, threading, epilating all pull the hair out by the roots and where the growth is hormonally-driven can actually stimulate a dormant follicle into producing more hair quicker. They also distort the root if done repeatedly, leading to hair growing at strange angles. And you've got to let the hair grow to quite a length before you can repeat the exercise. It can also damage the skin and discolor it. Long-term use of waxing also causes bad wrinkles.

* Chemical depilatories strong enough to remove the hair are very likely to burn the skin, cause swelling and cause long-term discoloration of the skin.

* Laser is also liable to cause burning and discoloration and in any case only works effectively on a dark hair/light skin combinantion.

* Electrolysis is very liable to cause scarring and discoloration of the skin.

Which, like it or not, leaves shaving which does not damage the skin. Best done with a men's-style electric razor, the best of which, for women, are probably those from the men's range of Norelco razors (Philishave outside the US). Most women who try a men's Norelco wonder why nobody ever told them about it before. But before using a Norelco cut the hair right down close to the skin. Norelcos are useless on anything longer than 1/16".

Waxing is the best option. It is fast, you won't have razor stubble, and weakens the hair folicles. You can do it yourself with wax strips (e.g. Sally Hansen, Nads, Parissa) or you can go to a salon.

Depilatory is the next best option. It can be messy and smelly.

Threading is another option. It is relatively new in the USA but is really good. For more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threading_%28epilation%29

You could bleach the hair on your arms but it may end up looking like blond fuzz against your skin.

Do not shave - stubble on your arms is worse than hair. It will be prickly and really unattractive.

Do not by any means shave your arms. The hair will come back coarser and more visible. Waxing is painful. Go to the store, either walmart or your local pharmacy and check out the cream hair removers. They are safe and painless, and no stubble appearances. This works for weeks at a time. Try Sally Hansen brand. It really works.

I shave mine and they are realllllyy smooth. and it makes your skin super soft. what i do to help the hairs grow back soft and not stubbly is if you exfoliate after you shave with a scrub (i use st ives apricot scrub, its a face wash) also you dont have to shave as often as people say, arm hairs grow back really slow. I shave mine once a week, but sometimes you can go longer. so i recommend it defiantly, i was scared the first time too but its really not that bad, and if you decide you dont like it then just stop and they will grow back normall && don't listen to all these other people telling you not to shave because they will grow back thicker...blah blah blah....its not true, arm hairs are different from your leg hairs. take this from someone who ACTUALLY shaves their arms.

I am the same way and I shave my arms with a razor. Most people think that your hair will grow back thicker, but that doesn't happen to me. It's okay, trust I know that it can be embarrassing.

shaving makes the stubbles grow back looking weird, itchy. WAxing probably works best, may hurt a bit at first tho.

I agree with Big L. Forget the razor, go for a cream hair remover.

Hey I shave and I like it. I simply shave just as if I was shaving my legs. Then I make sure that I put lots of lotion.

you could wax but that's too much trouble. Just use Nair.
