Yes, it is an equal ratio, however it still can be reduced to 1/2.

They are equal ratios or more to the point equal fractions because when you reduce 28 over 56 you come up with 7 over 14!

28/56 28 divided by 4 = 7 56 divided by 4 = 14 so
28/56 reduced equals to 7/14 so.

28/56 =7/14 making them equal. to further reduce both of them to a ratio of 1 divide by 28/56 by 28 and 7/14 by 7 which gives you

1 over 2 for both ratios or put in ratio format 2 to 1 meaning they are both 2 to 1 ratios:
An example of that is if they were pullies. One pulley would be twice as large as the other one so the smaller pulley will make two revolutions for each revolution of the larger pulley.

And if they are gears then in the first ratio one gear will have 28 teeth and the other gear will have 56 teeth. So the gear with 28 teeth will make two revolutions for each revolution of the gear with 56 teeth.
And in the ratio of 7 to 14 the same will hold true. The gear with 7 teeth will make 2 revolutions for each revolution of the gear with 14 teeth.

Yes.

56/14=4
7*4=28

Basically you have to put them in common denominators. You can find the common multiplier by dividing the bigger denominator by the smaller one or 56/14=4. Since the common multiplier of the two fractions is 4 all you have to do is multiply that by the top number of the smaller two or 7*4=28, so since 28 is the same as the first one there equal.

You are correct. It is very similar to fractions.

7 over 14 = 28 over 56 = 1 over 2, etc.

Good luck.
