Stomata are the pores that allow carbon dioxide to come in for photosynthesis. Stomata also allow the oxygen gas that is made during photosynthesis to escape into the atmosphere.

Stomata are also important in bringing water up through the plant from the roots (transpiration-cohesion), but that probably isn't what the question is asking.

the stomatas role is gaseous exchange, so in photosynthesis this is letting CO2 into the plant via the stomata.
