Does anyone know what could cause this? Is this natural in elephants? I´d hate to think that they were victims of abuse and they were crying!

its from tears, but not tears of pain they most likely had an irriatant such as dust in their eyes...its perfectly fine

Good question, would have to check this too but I doubt it is crying albeit Elephants are very special creatures indeed.

They are not being abused at all. Its a natural thing with elephants. They have overactive tearducts.
