It happened with my "long, lost sister"

well at the beginning i took only pads because i was too scared that tampons might hurt too much and i didn't like the feeling to have something in my body the whole time.
but now i also use tampons, but only those with an applicator (or however that thing is called),which are easier to use to put it in (u don't really need to stick your finger in,so it's also not so dirty).
on my first day i can leave the tampon for a few hours. i normally use it just for the first 2 days, and afterwards i'll take pads.
anyways, i think for the beginning u should use pads, to get used to it and then afterwards u can try to use tampons.
i admit that it wasn't easy to put in the first time, but now it's not a problem at all if u get used to do it.
oh by the way, if u think that u'll get your period soon then u should always have pads ready otherwise it would be very embarassing...

Hey! Don't be afraid...Its just a period

You'll be able to swim, as long as you wear a tampon. If you don't like the way they feel, consider using a different brand or type...

Are you using tampons with a cardboard or plastic applicator?

I prefer plactic, becuz it's easier to insert...

Also, tampons have different tips, which may make it easier or slightly difficult to insert.

Are you using light, regular or super?

Sometimes the super can be a little uncomfortable when you first put it in...so try regular or light.

Another important thing to ask you, are you sure you're putting in right? Sometimes when you don't insert it all the way, it can make you feel slightly uncomfortable...so before you insert the tampon in your vagina, relax & take your time!

Sweety, you should try Tampax Pearl becuz it has a rounder tip so its easier to insert and it has a plastic applicator...

Using pads & tampons are like trial & error, you have to figure out what works best for you...ya know? Whats good for one female, may not be good for the next!

Don't believe anyone who says water can stop the flow of your period, becuz that is sooooo untrue!!!

I'm not sure how old you are, but you should try this website called Being Girl, sponsored by Always & Tampax (see link below). It's perfect for young girls & teens. You get advice on girl stuff like this, they show you the proper way of inserting a tampon and you can also get FREE samples of tampons & pads without paying anything...Its totally free! I'm grown (over 25) and I always tell my students to use this site, especially if they don't have a responsible adult to talk to!!!

Anyway...Good Luck!

I got my period when I was 10 years old! I would say I prefer pads and tampons. But I love to go swimming because it feels like you are not even on your period! Trust me you will be fine!

The tampon goes in your vagina.

And you can go swimming while your wearing a tampon. You can actually go swimming while on your period without a tampon. As long as your in the water, you'll be fine and there won't be any blood.

What you need to do though is go and talk with your mom. She's the one who should be answering these questions. If your not comfortable speaking with her, then go to your school nurse.

its called your VAGINA. tampons all the way babe. they are so much better and pain free. and you can go swimming but you will have to wear a tampon. periods are normal it gets you ready to have a baby. a egg that is released from your overy decends in the flalopian tube and if a mans sperm does not catch on to it, it will release into your uterus wiith some blood and some lining of your uterus out your vagina. it will happen baout every 28 days. its not scary, its normal it means your becoming a woman. you will have about 4-6 tablespoons of blood and lining coming out of your vagina. no big deal. you might have some bloating, cramps in your lower belly, and tiredness. midol helps for those things, so does excersizing, and heating pads. its all just part of womanhood. its not scary at all. i hope i helped. goodluck!

I prefer tampons. They really aren't hard to get used to and you can go swimming. So long as you have in in correctly, you won't even feel it.

if you are not sexually active now stick with the pad -tampons can hurt forced on a hymen .its gonna be ok ,you get a nice trade off of sharp intution and clearer thinking .you may have to do another sport while your cycle visits. try to talk to a female in your family you trust .

i was also scared, but it started when i was sleeping so at least it didnt start at school, always have some pads in your locker or backpack....... i guess that if you started at school you could wad up some toilet paper and use it as a temporary pad until you can get a real one from your locker

EWWWW!!!! blood coming out of your yahoo??!?!?! OMG that's soooo gross!

LOL

hahahha, I'm j/k... it's part of growing up and becoming a woman. You'll get used to it just like every other girl has since the beginning of the human race . Umm, I think you're suposed to start with pads and then move up to tampons once you know what your cycle is like.
