I will be 16 years old next month and I need a job. I don't want to work some dumb job at a fast food place. I'm smart, have great grammar skills, and can type accurately at about 70 wpm. Do you think there's a place that would hire a 16-year old where I could use my computer/typing skills??

THANKS

If you are a good talker also by that I mean you know what employers want to hear and you tell them before they ask you. Really talk yourself up, tell them how fast you can type, what computer programs you know, and ask them not to consider your age tell them you are eager to work and that you know you can be professional for your age. Always be very professional/ business-like too that includes good posture, well mannered and polite. Don't talk to them like you talk to your friends, talk to them as professional-like as possible. Tell them you want to grow in the business field and you think this job would be the perfect start. Apply for jobs like receptionist or order entry positions. Start out little and work your way up. Apply for jobs with confidence and you should be able to win it! Good luck!

its possible if you sound like a smart person but usually those office's are looking for someone that has a degree or a high school diploma. you can type 80 wpm but its highly doubful unless you have some sort of experience prior. In the work industry its mostly who you know not what you know. so start making calls to close relative, friend of a family, etc and see if anyone is looking.

If you're still at school you may have problems getting an office job. Office hours are usually Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

It would be difficult for someone to employ you for an hour after school.

Once I had finished school I started a traineeship in an office, which is good because you get paid to train and learn. It's bad because the pay is bad, but it would be average as compared to a fast food place.

My advice is to get a job at the fast food place if you're still in school, so that you have a working history. When you go for your next job, you have a good working history and it is easier to get the office job.

Look for data entry positions, but most require a HS degree. Call lawyers offices and people like that, they sometimes hire young people for PT help.

Ask around for help like a neighbor or a relative. They might know somebody who might have a basic office position for you, but before you ask submit a resume. Good luck.

You could work from home on your computer. You could write articles, sell on eBay,make a website, take surveys. More details at http://www.pcworkathome.net/jobsforminors.html

Try and get someone or some establishment to help you get a traineeship.
