No but if you are uncomfortable with having internal exams you can decline them.
Also there is a blood test that is more accurate at detecting cervical cancer than a PAP.

No. When they do an internal exam and a pap smear they are playing with the end of the cervix. They do not do into the cervix. Does that make sense? SO.. the cervix does not have to be open and they don't force it. Hope that makes sense.

possibly. I lost my mucus plug on a Monday, and grow to be having contractions each and every 10 minutes through Friday. So i'd say you do not have yet 3-5 days left solid success! And fortunate you i'm in trouble-free terms 32 weeks with my second newborn!

That won't break the mucus plug. I've been pregnant 3 times & my mucus plug broke during my first pregnancy & the only time it breaks is when you go into Labor. And by tyhe way, Congragulations!

No, the mucus plug is high up in the cervix and can't be felt by doing an internal.

No, this is part of your routine first prenatal visit. I had it with all my pregnancies. Nothing to worry about.

it shouldnt do. our fannys are tougher than you think. its not advisable to have a smear but if its needed than so it shall be. dont worry though. we can stand a bashin up there. xx
