A travel agent DOES NOT cost more. This is a common misconception. They may cost the same, very often they cost less, but definitely not more. Travel agents can offer you a lot of help, and if something happens and you need to make a change or anything, your travel agent will take care of it. When they call in to get things taken care of they talk with a department that only deals with travel agents, they don't talk to the 16 year old making minimum wage who ends up transferring you to their supervisor who transfers you to a different department who transfers you back right where you started. The internet has brought a lot of conveniences, but at the cost of customer service. Customer service is an absolute joke now. The only way to get good service is to deal with an agent, one person who knows you and knows what you expect. It won't cost you anything, it will probably end up saving you money, and it will definitely save you headaches. For instance, if you had already worked with an agent before and had a good relationship with them, you could just call them up and get this taken care of instead of getting contradicting information and the runaround online.

Hope this helps, and have a great trip!

Best and cheapest to do it yourself. Here's the official train site and some good accommodation websites.
