a threat to gretzky and lemieux's records, but if he cant score goals at a decent clip he will never be a threat ,,sure he can pass with the best of themand racks up the assists ,but it seems to me he is not the finisher that lemieux was or even gretzky,,i dont know i may be wrong but i watch almost every game and it seems he does not have a killer finishing move ,,most his goals come of rebounds from what i see,,im a huge pens fan and would love to see him challenge some of gretzky's records,,i just think to do so ,,he will have to score more goals

A threat to Gretzky.....
Doubtful, Crosby is an excellent player, but he needs to be much more consistent to ever get to Gretzky's realm
Gretzky scored 50 goals in 39 games back in 82
I don't think anyone will ever see that record broken

Well the kid is still young and he's putting up MVP numbers. He will probably end up with around 30 goals and become the MVP and have the most points in the season. When Crosby enters his prime years he will be scoring his 50+ goals. He will not however, break through as better than Lemieux or Gretzky. Don't take that as an insult at all people! This guy is a shoe-in for the Hall of Fame by the end of his career! But Gretzky averaged about 2 points every game! It will take immediate success with minimal cold streaks and injuries to get close to The Great One. Gretzky has 1,000 more points than anyone else in the NHL. When it comes to goals, Sydney Crosby will be a leader, but not the leader. He is definately the name of the new NHL and he should be proud of that.

Never...Crosby is a totally different type player than Gretzky was and the NHL is a different league now too. No team will ever score 400 goals in a season again that is for sure and Gretz's 92 goals will never be broken. In fact his 215 points wont be beat either. Crosby is more like Peter Stastny anyhow not that that is a bad thing.

I dont think that Sydney Crosby needs to score more than 50 goals in a season because he isnt really that kind of player. He isnt like an Ovechkin or an Ilya Kovalchuk because he is more of a playmaker. You go to the net and you know this guy is going to put it on your tape. He has made some passes that have literally made me wet myself. He should get about 45 a year and end up with like 90 assists. He will be better than Gretzky because he started so young and he will shatter all of his records.

Crosby is not a goal scorer. He is a playmaker. He can pass through traffic like its nothing. He can set up plays excellently and makes the players around him better. I don't think he'll beat Gretzky's records.

Now, if you put him on the same team as Ovechkin, then you'd have a team. Ovechkin is a goal scorer - he can easily find the back of the net. I would love to see that combonation.

He's 19 and has gone 7 games without a goal. Hardly a career-breaking streak. And in those 7 games, he has 9 assists. It's not worth panicking until he's 25 and is going 10+ games without scoring more than once a season.

i think he will do it, and that day is not far
he might not be able to score much right now but would most probably get more then 50 goals
although i doubt that he will be a serious threat to records of gretzky or lameiux, still he is going to bring the new generation of Hockey.

He will beat Gretzky's career records (barring an injury), but as you said, he won't beat single-season records because he does not score often enough. He will get 60+ in a season by the end of his career however.

You do be conscious of that he has in basic terms averaged 111 pts over the final 2 seasons... i've got faith you will possibly see somebody like Ovechkin score 50 targets long earlier it ever happens for somebody who performs a type like Crosby does... and a hundred and ten assists is on no account going to take place. notice: Crosby is a miles greater effective participant than somebody like Ovechkin; are not getting me incorrect. Ovechkin can score greater targets in a season. yet somebody like Crosby provides lots greater to a team basic and makes anyone on his team greater effective for having him there.

Well he is still like 22nd in the league in goals so its not like he's doing bad...plus look at his point surge at the END of the season last year. He needs to realize he has a great shot and should shoot more instead of racking up the assists.
