If we had a flat tax everyone would be paying their fair share.
With a flat tax it would be around 3% for all, but no deductions would be available, no tax shelters, no special tax favors for the rich, no tax brakes for the friendly corporations of politicians. And for kutekimme, YOU ARE A COMMUNIST. Why is it that the harder you work and the smarter you are the more you are taxed. That is no motivation to succeed in this economy, considering your an army brat. I chaulk it up to NO RESPECT FOR YOUR family member in the military, because he fights for OUR constitution, which says that a tax can be levied by the federal government. BUT it needs to be fair and equal to all people, so if you pick a percentage, everyone pays the same, and the rich make more they will pay more.

Since taxes are based on the amount of income earned, they paid more taxes because they had more income. But because the tax system is tilted in their favor via deductions, etc., they actually pay a disproproportinately low share of taxes.

Your kind would tax the guy with the little two-bedroom house the same as the guy with the forty-room mansion.

A better question is: "Is it fair that only 1% of the population makes almost 40% of the total income?"

Yes, especially if they make 37% of the money. Do you see how that works? But actually they make 50% of the income. So it would seem logical, that if they were taxed the same as everyone else, they would pay 50% of the taxes.

No, but only because they pay a higher tax rate. That is very different from the rule of law, which says that every man should be equal before the law. Hence, tax rates should be the same for everybody.

Yes it is fair. It wouldn't work if everyone paid the same amount. I made $6,000 last year. Should I have just given all that money to the feds since someone else had to pay $100,000 in taxes?

If they control 37% percent of the capital, then YES.

Your stat is terribly misleading.

Firstly "wage" means you count all compensation and income including capital gains. Mostly wealthy people don't even work, besides managing their assets.

For the salaries that they earn ( look at the unreal salaries/bonus packages CEO's are getting these days), I don't think it's a big deal at all. When milliions of American workers break their backs to increase productivity that in turn increases profits for corporations, CEO's reap the benefits of tremendous compensation packages. They have taken enough already, let them give a little back to the rest of us.

in view that taxes are depending on the quantity of income earned, they paid more beneficial taxes because they'd more beneficial income. yet because the tax equipment is tilted of their opt for through deductions, etc., they fairly pay a disproproportinately low percentage of taxes. Your style would tax the guy with the little 2-mattress room homestead a similar because the guy with the 40-room mansion. a more beneficial efficient question is: "Is it honest that in trouble-free words a million% of the inhabitants makes very virtually 40% of the finished income?"

If they don't like it, they have the economic power to move to another nation. Let's see who charges them less.

Is it fair that the top 5% of the world's population controls 90% of the world's resources?

No. Their wages should be capped, and their capital gains and estates should all be taxed at 90%.

Then the money won't be theirs for them to complain about.
