Seriously, this is just pathological. Any other topic on these boards, say sports, one person can think Williams was the best hitter, one can think DiMaggio, maybe someone else can think it was George Brett.

But you don't have people refusing to accept that Williams hit .406 in 1941 and you don't have people refusing to accept that George Brett won the batting title.

In every other area of discussion, the facts are accepted and people apply their values to the facts and get different conclusions, but the facts are accepted - if the facts alone refute your position you don't just "decide" not to "believe" them.

Maybe you feel that entry-level people should start out higher-paid and that people later on in their careers, making more, should have to give some of that back. Maybe you think immigrants should get more benefits.

If so, please ADMIT that most "low income people" are just starting out and won't be "low income" 10 or 12 years from now and then make your point!

Well, I'm a very low income person who cannot afford to own a home, or even rent a low income apartment.

I had left a management position to care for my mother until her death. It was something she wanted and was her last wish not to spend the rest of her time in the cold confines of a nursing home. I fulfilled that wish because I loved her with all my heart and what's more.. she deserved it. I wanted to make her last days as easy and happy as I could.

When she was gone, I tried to get my management job back and of course they'd given it to someone else. I was unemployed and hurting to the point I lost the apartment I had and didn't have anywhere to go.

I still took the next best way and applied for Pell Grants and returned to college, and while there for 3 years worked in the work/study program in the department of my major. However, when my tenure was up, my job was gone.

I'm now staying with my first ex who was kind enough to give me a roof over my head until I can find something. I'm 57 years old, and not just starting out...but should be able to find employment easily; however, I have not been that fortunate. I've taken a part-time job at night, just to buy food and gas for my car. I only clear $96 a week, but I am still seeking full time employment.

So actually your question is not in reality. There are many other women in my position who want to have a decent job and cannot find one, we want a place of our own to live, we want nothing but to be able to provide for ourselves. We are way too young for Social Security and have no where to go. This is not funny...nor do I like setteling for what I have...but what are my options? Keeping an accurate record of how many times I submitted resumes comes to 950 accounted for in the last 3 years. Rethink that position.

Low income people today are more likely to stay low income than at any other point in our history.
