What about third, fourth, and fifth chances? At what point do you stop having hope that they'll change their ways?

I think 2nd chances are ok, but any more than that would require a re-earning of trust. Does the person admit their wrong and show a desire to make it right? Also, it depends on the age of the person. Kids can be given grace a few more times than adults. :)

Everyone deserves a second chance but after that then they do not deserve any more chances. Most people can and will change.

I wasn't given the 2nd chance and I am scared that that's all I ever have - make one mistake and people give up, don't give you a chance even to make things better

I think people should have second chance

it'd be naive to think that people will change their ways after 5 or six chances. people do at least deserve three chances...after that i personally think all hope is lost.

Yes if they truly feel sincere and honest about being with you. A 3rd time is just fake.
