In control panel, Network connections, what doe's the little
lock symbol (on all of the connections) mean ?
2: How do I remove those lock symbols ?
They seem to prevent use of online browsing.

Most likely you have the firewall turned on. This is usually the symbol for the firewall and not secure connections. You can simply turn off windows firewall. Depending on the connection types you are most likely already using these connections

It doesn't necessarily means you need password to access them, it just means that is a secured and verified website. It would also have https:// in the address bar. The s stands for 'secured' (Hyper test trasfer protocol secured=https). In short the site is using SSL to secure its contents (Secure Socket Later).

it means those are secure networks and you need passwords to access them.

that the page you are viewing is secure with no phishing (password stealing) or spyware
