I think it is too commercial.we have 365 days in the year to tell someone we love that we love them.why do we need to put a day aside to say it??i have seen loads of valentines day advertisements.i think they are a bit mad."tell your partner you love them this valentines day with this diamond ring".i mean why would you have to give her a diamond ring to say you love her.does anyone else think its all just very silly.

I believe that Saint Valentine was a real person. So I suppose in the beginning there was day to celebrate him and commercialism took over and turned it into a silly event in which they could make money on it.

Yes I agree. You dont need to tell your partner that you care one day of the year. A gift is extra special when it's totally unexpected. Shelling out hundreds of thousands of dollars on one day is highly overrated. If you need to reassure your love with money then there's something wrong with the relationship to begin with.

I think it is a lot silly. The flower, candy, undie, and card industry are totally behind making it so commercial. Do we need a special day just to buy thong panties for our girlfriends?

I do think it's silly and overdone. If my hubby wants to bring me gifts on Vday I'm okay with that. If he didn't, I'm okay with that. I know he loves me no matter what day it is.

Its not about NEED... why does it need to be? It's an excuse to dress up, spend money, treat ourselves and each other to something nice (as if I need an excuse for any of that!).... what's wrong with it?
