no originality. carbon copies of each other.
i definitely disagree with you on metallica. maybe new metallica is a bit overrated, but how can you say old metallica is? master of puppets is one of the greatest heavy metal albums ever. kill 'em all was a breakthrough metal album...no one did speed metal at that time like metallica.
and nirvana? they were the sound of a generation, the sound of a movement. they defined grunge. they weren't the best band in the world, granted, but they literally spawned a whole genre of music.
rhcp, overrated. green day, definitely overrated.

The only ones I agree with are My Chemical Romance and Green Day. Nirvana isn't overrated, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is. If the only Nirvana album you've ever heard is Nevermind, try another one. They really aren't overrated, only people who love them too much makes them seem that way, which goes along with any other band. RHCP are pretty good, and Metallica is too.
I think almost all emo/pop rock bands are overrated. Every single person in the world likes them, and it causes everyone to feel the need to be the same. Now everyone wants to be the exact same as everyone else so they can fit in and be cool because of those stupid bands.

Nirvana is definetly overrated. Bunch of untalented Hacks. the best thing that could have happened to them was Cobains death. They didn't have to make a new crappy record. Chili Peppers - need to come up with new stuff. its the same old thing song after song. Green Day Just Sucks. I disagree with the guy who said the Beatles. They evolved over time, not many bands do this. Most bands just do the same crap time after time. Its all about staying power and being willing to try something new. Coming up with a new sound and having people copy you, or being willing and able to change your sound.

I gotta agree with you except Linkin Park is a real good group same with Fort Minor. But Fergie is definatly overrated I can't stand Fegalicious. Someone who is way underrated is K Doe aka K Deezy he is a Detroit underground rapper who needs to be noticed he is really good.

Pretty much every band since about 1991.
No one is writing anything worth while/original.
Note: there ARE exceptions but most acts these days are cookie cutters, some top 40 and country artists are doing good stuff.

My Chemical Romance (really overrated)
Fall Out Boy (just plain boring)
Dixie Chicks (proof that politician bashing "improves" your image. LOL!)
Beyonce (good but not great)
Justin Timberlake (oh, please!)
Fergie (she's okay - nothing fantastic)
James Blunt (YAWN)
