Lucy which places Homo Sapiens Sapiens on a direct line of descent of over 2 million years and in so doing pulls the rug out from under the creation myths. This, along with other finds, provides a foundation to replace myth with science.

If we (as a species) are up to the challenge, we can work with the scientific process to develop solutions to our problems. For example, making religious initiated warfare a thing of the past. Of course that is if we are up to challenge, and that is truly doubtful.
