My baby is 5 months old and he used to be constipated, but now his stool are not runny, just look slimy anyone know whats wrong??
I have a doctor appointment for him today...

He eats 2-3 teaspoons of food 3 times a day

He could be teething and the excess saliva that he is swallowing can make his stools runnier than usual. Good luck!

Could he have been constipated because he was on formula? Sounds like the iron in the formula combined with rice cereal made him constipated. With my neice the doc had her put her baby on fruit to help. Any change in diet will cause some difference in stools until their bellies get used to it.

Slimy like mucus generally means infection, or irretation in the bowels due to being fed solids. 5 month old babies should be on cereals but not vegitables and fruits yet, certainly not cows milk. But talk to your doctor because all babies handle solids differently.

If he's learning to eat something other than formula or breast milk, that's probably the cause of the change.
