yes the doc told me to take the gummi ones and they still did it to me( they made me sick ) So I took them at night before bed and still no help ( try this first ) but if you just can not take them then try to when you think you can and do not sweat it that much if you have to miss them ( I threw them up for like 5 months straight ) My child is VERY healthy and nothing is wrong with her.. she is on time with everything!!

Like she said just try to get folic acid from foods that you can eat!!

A lot of women have this problem. Just eat fortified foods and you'll be fine.

The only thing you need a lot of and cant make or store with your own body is folic acid, but the truth is that the baby uses the most before your pregnant (you need it in your system at the time of conception) and in the first 7-8 weeks. Folic acid is used when the embryo forms the spinal column and brain, after that you get MUCH more than you need from fortified foods and a healthy diet.

So as it is, I wouldnt stress the vitamins, and instead worry more about a healthy diet for yourself. The baby will take what it needs from your body whether you eat it or not, but your body will need those things for its own repair and function.

Theres actually been a number of studies done that prove that the prenatal nutrition of the mother does not effect the health or outcome of the baby in the end. Unless of course you live in such an inpovershed area of the world that you never eat decent food and so your own body has nothing to offer the baby.

Try taking something with low or no iron. But if a reagular flintstones makes you sick a regular vitamin will too.

Prenatal vitamins, as I am sure you know , are really important . Especially the folic acid for preventing birth defects. Try taking them before bed with a snack. NEVER on an empty stomach and NEVER at the time you are most likely to have morning sickness. If this continues talk to your physician , there are some prenatal vitamins that are actually less likely to cause nausea. In most cases the nausea goes away after the 12th to 14th week and taking the vitamins will become easier. In the mean time as I suggested NEVER on an empty stomach ,play with the time of day you take them and possibly talk to the doctor about another brand.

Yup, been there too! The problem is the high amounts of iron in prenatals can cause you to feel sick. I'm suprised that childrens vitamins make you sick as well. I take 3 childrens vitamins with iron a day but one in the am, one with lunch and one before bed. If that doesn't help, talk to your doctor. Right now it is more important that you get enough Folic Acid as apposed to iron. See if there is a safe way to get your 800mg of folic acid from another alternative.
Good luck.

I took regular vitamins, do you have some regular multivitamins? If it is the iron try taking plain multivitamins, you don't need the iron. In fac there is emerging evidence that the iron in prenatals does more harm than good.

Otherwise just eat well, and take some natural suppliments like oatstraw, seeweed, alfalfa, etc. Leafy greens are high in iron, folic acid, and vitamin K. Spinach/Kale in a berry smoothie is good and you can't really taste it.

I had and STILL have this problem all the time. The best way to deal is to eat a little something right before you take them, and then take it with some juice. It disguises the taste and really helps sometimes. When you swallow it, dont think about it going down.

If you HAVE tried taking them at night and they still make you sick, you might have an intolerance to certain brands. See if your doctor could give you some samples of different ones and then if you find that there's one that works well, just ask them if it would be okay for you to call their office and let them know and have them call you in a prescription to your pharmacy.

I just couldn't take prenatals at all. I did take my folic acid with no problems, and I had a great pregnancy and a perfectly healthy little boy.

Try taking them at night after a full meal. Then eat some crakers (salty ones) that may help you.
