Yes. the average price of a meal in your hotel depending on its star rating will be about the same as in England, booze is more expensive I was asked to pay £7.50 for a very indifferent glass of wine and when I commented on its price I was told by the waiter yes this is the most expensive town in Egypt... he was very proud of the fact. I suggest you take duty free, but hide it many hotels will not let you take food and drink in. Ohh and champagne was £250 a bottle.
That said we were staying in the Hyatt regency which is one of the more expensive hotels. If you eat out in narma bay you will pay around £7 or 8 for a main course. if you eat in old town you will pay less the further off the beaten track you go the less the price my daughter walked up main street in old town and found a small restaurant where she only paid about £3-4 for a huge plate of fish and seafood and she’s said it was excellent. Hotels are more expensive. Hard rock cafe is the same price as it is all over the world but the queue to get in is horrendous. fags in Egypt are cheap about £1 for 20 Marlboro if you don’t buy in the hotel.
what to do, well there is a club in Narma bay which my daughters told me was good. There is of course snorkelling and diving. a 3 day course which is hard work and will give you a basic padi licence and will cost you about £300, the basic cost is not all. there are also books, logs and certificates etc, they all mount up at about £10-20 a time. also glass bottom boats and other water sports.
do not miss the evening out at a local club in old town, it is a place where there is a floor show with whirling dervishes and belly dancers etc and the most amazing dancer called Tito, he was incredible, I think there was also a sound and light show there and it was called 'fantasia 'or 'alf leilah' shes the girl in the arabian nights(ask a taxi driver or your concierge) it was mostly Egyptians there and it doesn’t start till about 11 pm but it was great fun. But don’t go Friday Tito s day off and he really is worth seeing.oh and don’t eat there only drink.
excursions.
if you want to see the ancient stuff you are better of going to luxor (tombs and temples) for a week also much cheaper. To get there from sharm means a flight really. there is a trip to Cairo where the museum and pyramids are. but its in a coach and a long way, the coaches are not that comfortable. There is also a trip to mount Sinai and to Petra in Jordan, also long trip in coach.
if you want to go out of Sinai peninsular you must buy a visa on arrival costs about £10 ( take enough cash to pay for it) if you not leaving the peninsula you don’t need a visa. Lastly look around for changing money it’s usually much more expensive to change in England and some of the hotels are expensive too, may be cheaper in town. If you want any thing else ask.

Since Sharm El Sheikh has few attractions comparing to Europe or the US, tourist generally stay in All Inclusive hotels and do not leave the hotel during the whole vacation which is smart.
When I was there we went to the Hard Rock Cafe and got a cocktail which costed around 10 USD which is not so much expensive I think.

Cairo may be the capital of Egypt and one of many greatest towns in Africa and the Middle East and a good place to go to; find more with hotelbye . On the Nile river, Cairo is well-known for a unique history, preserved in the incredible ancient Islamic city and Coptic sites in Old Cairo. The Egyptian Museum in the hub of city is a must see, with its countless Historical Egyptian artefacts because no visit to Cairo would be complete with out a stop by at the Giza Pyramids, and to the regional Saqqara Pyramid Complex. In Cairo you will see: The Pyramid of Cheops (also called the Great Pyramid or Pyramid of Khufu), the largest chart of the Giza class, and its inside of thin passages may be investigated, though there is not significantly to see, except an ordinary tomb chamber having an clear sarcophagus. Right behind the Great Pyramid may be the Solar Vessel Museum, which exhibits among the ceremonial solar barques discovered in the region that has been painstakingly restored to its unique glory. Further south on the plateau is the Pyramid of Chephren (also referred to as the Pyramid of Khefre), which includes an interior canal region which can be entered.

By comparison to Uk it is cheap. you can eat out well for £5-£10. You cab take a our to the pyramids etc. You can do this by plane for about £130 each for a day trip with all fees included or a lot less by coach but that makes a very long day.

Considering that it is purely a tourist resort, not actually too bad, though you'd still call them tourist prices. You can make things cheaper by haggling for absolutely anything run by the locals (eg gift shops, cabs etc) and I recommend doing so, cos they'll judge what they charge you based on how rich you look.
