I think Al Franken will run a good campaign, but will lose. There are a number of tough candidates on the Democratic side who have stronger ties other than living her for a while, moving away and moving back a year or so ago. I also think his books will come back to haunt him. They may be satire, but many Minnesotans will take offense to calling a Senator, Republican or not, a butt boy.

Since I first heard rumblings of Franken running, I have never considered him a viable candidate. His name recognition will take him only so far.

As the neo-con Republican sympathizers who surf this particular site already know, the blogbaba is backing Hillary for president, and in that light it's clear to all but the most conservative that Al Franken would make a fine Senator.

Although the blogbaba doesn't have a vote for the Minnesota Senate, Mr. Franken has the best wishes and support of the blogbaba in his candidacy. Lets hope the great state of Minnesota continues its fine tradition of actually electing public servant instead of professional politicians.

I think it's possible. He is very bright, very articulate, and there are a lot of voters with progressive ideas in Minnesota.
By the way, Jesse Ventura was a terrific governor. He had great people on his staff. He appointed people who were experts in their fields, irrespective of their politics, and then he respected their opinions. He made great decisions on appointing judges. Unfortunately, he felt picked on by the media. He never understood that getting criticized was part of the job. I have never voted for a candidate who was not a Democrat in my life, but I would have voted for Jesse for a second term.
