I think it's ridiculous that I have to spend three times the amount of money today just because it's Valentine's Day. Seems like a scam to me.

The idea is make someone feel special. Above everyone else. Love is not just lip service"I Love You". It is in gestures, surprises, and sacrifices. If she knows you love her and that you think Valentines Day is a scam, it would be fun to floor her by doing something thoughful for her on Valentines Day. My husband one year took me to the place where we first met and told me all the things he loved about me. It was very romantic and no money was spent on "Valentine Stuff".

The point is for businesses to make lots of money selling candy, flowers, lingerie, jewelry, greeting cards and other merchandise.

Its for her just suck it up. Its so her friends at work can see how much you love her.
