My purple and your purple don't look the same, neither do our greens, neither do our reds etc. We see the same colors differently. There is a name for this theory, can you please tell me what it is?

Thomas Nagel Is probably the nearest a philospher has come to codifying this principal of the privacy of internal perceptions in an Article for Mind basically arguing that even if we knew everything there was to know about the physical manifestations of a bats sensory input we would not know what it was like to be a bat. This is the same principle as the perceiving colours differently. However philospher's of Language would argue for effective communication purposes we have agreed on a range of light waves that correspond to Blue so that if I say the car is blue you could not possibly be seeing orange, because it would hinder communication and the difference would become apparent. this argument is not very convincing and I think McGinn and Nagel state best that a subjects perceptions in essence can never be as fully perceived by another subject. This is the essence of subjectivity.

It is not a theory. It is the way each individuals vision sees a color. I know sometimes a certain shade of Grey will look brown to me. I was told this by my optometrist.

Agnosticism about color qualia.

I looked, there's no standard theory name that I could find.
However, it is widely agreed upon-- because we are all skeptical when it comes to verifying the quality of subjective experience.
