I do not know anything about sending cars overseas. Where should I start? And how much this will cost me? Thanks.

Juliane is correct. It will cost more than the car is worth.

You will not only have the fees to ship it there, but you WILL end up paying customs taxes on it. Customs fees are exceptionally high, simply because they want to protect their own markets. And they will base the fees on what they determine the car is worth, which will likely have no bearing on reality in the States.

He will likely have problems with licensing it as well.

Sell the car, and send him the money. He can buy a car for less than the total cost of this proposition.

Sorry, but a 1996 Geo Metro is no gift :p

Your brother will be able to buy a much newer car in Russia for less money than the shipping and customs costs.

The last time I had an Army buddy ship a car overseas, it cost $10,000 for the freight. That was 20 years ago, so prices are probably different now, but don't get shocked at the price.

It will probably cost more than the car is worth. Transit is probably well over $1000 (it is around $1000 to just go to Europe). Plus there is the possibility that you will have to pay import taxes or other fees to Russian Customs.

Probably better to sell it and send the money for a car. With the money conversion, he can likely buy something there for the money.

I would think that at minimum, it will cost you the love and respect of your brother. I mean, you are going to go to all that trouble to send a GEO METRO??? Yikes...might as well find a '74 Vega station wagon...or a '72 Pinto, or better yet, a '74 AMC Pacer.

Send him a '69 GTO.

Just my two cents worth.
