This novel tells the story of two men who, through no choice of their own, come together and form a bond in the realization that sometimes simply choosing to resist the expected is an act of heroism. It was removed from the book store at Louisiana College by the President who believed a love scene depicted in the novel clashed with the school’s Christian values.
They also banned several other books, apparently education is not they key in Georgia, Selective Education is the Key

Well the school teacher is an Athiest and he's educating a black man accussed of commiting a murder actually commited by a white man and the school teacher is wrestling with the conservative views of a black minister. Gee, from my experience, Georgia has about 3 or 4 reasons to refuse to sell it or offer it. There are some great people living in Georgia, fortunately they are not loud and whiney but unfortunately the loud and whiney ones get the press.
