I have mixed feelings on this. If she really wanted it and understood it would hurt. But then again maybe wait a while till she is old enough to know that she can't play with them till they heal.

I worked in a salon for years and have done many children and even babies. From dealing with how they take it ... Don't do it.
It is heart breaking to see these kids scream and cry all because it looks "cute". Not only is there a chance of the child's ears getting infected (touching ears with dirty hands, like kids do) but if you also have to watch that the earring doesn't get snagged and ripped out (very traumatic for a child!). I no longer do younger children's piercings and figure that when they get older and want one then go for it. Anyway that is my opinion and what I did with my daughter.

I made my oldest wait until she was 10 that way she could take care of them herself. When I was little my mom would get my ears pierced and let them get infected and get them re-pierced it happened several times and I didn't want to put my daughter through that because I can remember the pain.

No, No, No, No! I was begged by my mother in law to get my daughter's ears pierced since she was a baby. and she confessed to me that she almost got them done herself. She really pissed me off, and annoyed me by wanting to add an extra responsibility to my one and only child. I was a new mom. I already had enough to worry about. I didn't want to worry about her getting an infection in her ear like I did. I want her to get earrings when I think that she is responsible enough to take care of them on her own.
I wasn't yelling at you when i said no, I just hate this subject. It is a very bitter subject for me.
But it is your choice. You can weight the pros and cons from the answers that you receive, and make a decision from what you truly believe. However, if you are having doubts, maybe you should wait until you are more confident in yourself to make this decision.

Only if she specifically asked to get them pierced. Which a 2 year old couldn't do.

If she was willing to pay for it, I would allow it, however that being said I doubt a 2 year old would ask, they would probably feel mature enough to just do it on their own.

Seriously..... No it is cruel and lacks purpose.
