neutering will stop area marking unless there is another male dog in the house that is unneutered, then neutering will only work if the dog is still young. but if he is the only dog in the house, neutering is in yours and your pets best interest. not only will it stop unwanted furniture marking, it will help your pet live a happier, longer life.

the dog has been an intact male for quite some time and may be set in his ways even after neutering but it is worth a try, plus neutering will help prevent prostate cancer, even though toy dogs seem to live incredibly long lives he is getting to that age where he will start having age related health problems soon,so it is a good idea to have him neutered anyway

Not by itself but it will help. You need to get rid of every trace of the smell (so the dog can't smell it) or you won't be able to keep him from going back to those spots. Then it's a matter of a bit of re-training. Keep him in the room with you for a while so you can keep a close eye on him to correct him if he tries marking again.

Sometimes it helps. I guess you have a 25% chance that they won't do it again. It's not as likely to stop when you don't get them neutered right away, before they do it. When you're not around to watch it keep it in a crate. Keep it in a crate at night too. See if that helps.

nope...it is a dogs way of saying "this is who i am and where i live ...that wont change by getting fixed...when two dogs meet they greet by sniffing behinds...this is how they learn about each other...this wont stop either, neither will mounting a dog your dog thinks as omega or inferior or if he simply wants to say i am boss, even when the other dog is trying to say it to...it can lead to some confusion until they "sort it out"
